(2) Cape Chikyu, Tokkarisho Lookout, Cape Etomo, etc.

(Will visit tourist spots in Muroran, whose place name is related to the Ainu language)

The name of Cape Chikyu, elected as one of the hundred new tourist spots, is derived from "poro chikepu" (being a parent; a cliff). This word was given a different accent and was corrupted to become generally known as Cape Chikyu. The name "Tokkarisho" comes from "tokaru isho" (a rock of a sea calf), and "Etomo" from "enrumu", an Ainu word meaning a cape.
