This was built to commemorate activities of John Batchelor and his wife, English people who contributed to the propagation of Christianity in Usu, who also studied the Ainu people and improved the Ainu people's status. This building is not open to the public because it is still used as a church. But you can see the inside of the building with the administrator's permission on Saturdays when a service is conducted, from April through October every year.
